Sketchbook dump! Some pages from the past few months. You can tell that even in my sketchbook I love to draw people best.

New sketchbook kicked off by a visit with art friends in Shreveport. The guys got together and their geek came out.

Sketchbook pages - Tom on the way to Dallas, and 2 days later on the return home.

A few ink and marker drawings of Tom, and travel.

When other ideas fail, draw your drink! Sketching at some local spots around town. My favorite neighborhood coffee shop - Dolce Vita, the best Italian food in Austin - Sagra, and a new nose-to-tail restaurant with some well done cocktails - The Salty Sow. (Get the idea that I like to eat a lot?) That time between ordering and receiving your food is a perfect opportunity for a quick drawing!

A few more ball point pen sketches! Two of my dear lady friends relaxing at the springs, I like that one is reading a book and on the opposing page she is reading a kindle. The final sketch is a repeating drawing self portrait - “inception”.

Just got back from a week long business seminar in the West Indies! Here is a sketch from the plane ride home. I promise a bigger sketchbook update coming soon.

Slightly creepy sketchbook page of eyeballs. Thinking about the lid wrapping around the eye and folding under the brow - so many different ways!

SXSW fashion sketches

Austin has exploded with visitors for SXSW 2012. The festival opens with film and interactive segments and then transitions to the more famous music portion. All these out-of-towners make for some great people watching, and I love to see what everyone is wearing. At first, the weather was dismal and everyone was wearing whatever allowed them to stay a bit dry. Now that the clouds are clearing, the fashion is really blooming. I am looking forward to doing some more sketches as the bands roll in. Some of these are done on the spot in my sketchbook as the people quickly filter past, others are done after the fact.
