New work! I’ve been staying away from sexuality, but I think this set of poses and expressions feels suggestive without going over the line.

Oh, I forgot to post this experiment finished last week. I am still undecided about it.

Another new painting of Cassandra. These poses were shot from up on a ladder above, which makes her seem kind of weightless.

New work! “Death in the Afternoon” + the piece close to finished, on the easel. The colors are like Absinth and hazy glowing afternoon sun, so Hemmingway’s famous cocktail came to mind. The double entendre with the french meaning of death, “le petite morte” also suits.

New piece! Nupastel and Oil on Arches Oil Paper. The inspiration for this came from the client, as this is a commission. They requested a horizontal back view, “with tension”. Probably my favorite brief, ever!
The model is Meka La Creme.

Gesture drawings from a live model last night. The black ones are 5 minute poses, and the one on toned paper is 10 minutes. Nupastel and charcoal stick. Life drawing is fantastic for reminding me to be efficient, less is more.

Sketchbook dump! Some pages from the past few months. You can tell that even in my sketchbook I love to draw people best.

Two new pieces. I am interested in the false modesty of these poses.

This is my first time using the Arches Oil Paper, which is a specialty paper that is not gessoed, but is archival for oil paint. I did the usual pastel drawings (a bit harder to get details with this surface) and then added oil paint for texture and variety in the backgrounds. You can see bits of oil paint more clearly in the close ups.

Seraphina Song is the model.
